The 1st Annual Gingerbread House Competition

Gingerbread houses — they just sound delicious. If you are looking to get creative over the month of December, you might want to take a look at The 1st Annual Gingerbread House Competition sponsored by The Coral Gables Museum. This fun-filled contest is open to all – kids, families, businesses, architects – and it’s further separated into categories ie. your 5-year old child is not going to compete against the architect down the street. Cash and other prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners. Proceeds will go to benefit Museum’s Educational Programming Fund and the Community Partnership for Homeless.
The rules for the competition are simple to follow:
- Entry is not to exceed 2 feet in width (or depth)
- All entries must be original (though children are allowed to use kits)
- Major components must be made of gingerbread
- All components must be edible
- Judging will be based on: overall appearance, originality, difficulty, precision and consistency of theme
If you want to participate in this competition, you need to get on it right away, as the deadline for registering is December 1, 2008. Register now.
If you don’t want to participate, the exhibit will still be exciting to check out.
