If you haven’t already made weekend plans, here’s something you might want to add to your list. Cheeca Lodge and Spa is hosting the 2nd annual Battle of the Chefs on Sunday, October 5th – a nice change from the typical food and wine festival. During the event, Cheeca will host a culinary showdown similar to that of Iron Chef and one of Dine Magazine’s fabulous writers, Marguerite Gil on be one of the featured judges.
Each round of the competition will feature two teams given just 30 minutes to prepare 2 dishes using a “secret ingredient.” The last two standing chefs will be given one additional hour to battle it out and create an additional three dishes. Some of the competing chefs/teams include Chef de Cuisine David Matlock (Cheeca), Chef Tony Glitz (Hawk’s Cay), Chef Michael Ledwith (Kaiyo), Chef Andy Niedenthal (Green Turtle) and more.
The competition starts at noon and tickets are only $10, and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Burton Memorial Food Bank. For tickets or more information, visit Cheeca Lodge & Spa or contact Cheeca Concierge at 305-517-4411.
