Join us at The Blind Monk in downtown West Palm Beach for a meet and greet with Sandy Huffine from Krupp Brothers Vineyards in Napa Valley. This event will be from 4:30-6:30 pm, as Sandy will need to leave at 6:00 pm sharp. From the very first vintage of Krupp Bros, their goal in winemaking has been to nurture the complex flavors and aromas in the mountain fruit as it evolves to produce wines with unique elegance and finesse.
Krupp Brothers is a limited-production artisan winery hand-crafting complex, age-worthy wines from our world famous Stagecoach Vineyard. They specialize in Bordeaux and Rhone varietals selected from some of the best blocks at the mountainous, rocky Stagecoach Vineyard. Wines are bottled under three brands: Veraison, Black Bart and Krupp. The winery was founded in 1999 by brothers Dr. Jan Krupp and Bart Krupp. Krupp Brothers wines are made by winemaker Tres Goetting and consultant winemaker Aaron Pott.

The first time we stepped inside The Blind Monk, we were instant fans. Even if that day does seem so long ago, we are still excited about their [slightly delayed] grand opening ribbon-cutting celebration this weekend.
On Saturday night, March 12 from 6-9 p.m., join in the fun and make your way down to Evernia Street for a fun-filled block party. This celebration will feature a blind tasting competition, wine education opportunities, raffles (where you’ll have the opportunity to win Blind Monk merchandise, gift certificates and a bottle of Dom Perignon), live music by Lauren Echo, a cigar roller, and a appearance by local celebrity and former HGTV Design Star, Nate Galui.
In addition, owner Ben Lubin will buy each guest his or her first drink. Upon arrival, guests are asked to check in on Facebook, show their check-in to a staff member and this will act as their raffle ticket.

When I received a call, letting me know that Jeff Bundschu from Gundlich Bundschu was going to be in the area, I knew the perfect place to hold a tasting — The Blind Monk in West Palm Beach. This quaint, neighborhood wine bar located on the ground floor of The Whitney offers the ideal setting to relax, have a conversation and of course, sip on one of their many varieties of wine.

On this particular evening, we welcomed Jeff Bunschu in and sipped on 6 different wines from his family’s winery — Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Cuvee, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet.

To kick things off, Jeff loosened us up and taught us “the” dance and we would never mispronounce the name again (Gun-Lock-Bun-Shoe). After that, our education lesson began. We sipped and swirled and learned about the history of the Gundlach Bundschu Winery, the oldest family-owned winery in California — and the wines we were drinking.

During the tasting and in between sips, we nibbled on light bites — cheese, crackers, fruit and olives — and with many newcomers to The Blind Monk — I know many found a new place to call home.
The Blind Monk is located at 410 Evernia in West Palm Beach. (561) 833-3605
